New Moon Soundtrack Confirmations

New Moon director Chris Weitz has confirmed three bands that will definitely contribute to the New Moon sound track, and fans of the Twilight soundtrack will easily recognize two of them! The bands that Weitz confirmed to be on the New Moon soundtrack are Radiohead, Muse, and Band of Skulls. Muse contributed Supermassive Hole to the Twilight sound track. Radiohead's 15 Step played during closing credits for Twilight, but it did not appear on the soundtrack. Band of Skulls will also have a song, but we do not have any more information than that at this time.

Taylor Lautner Tackles Stunts

Taylor Lautner has worked his tail off (ha ha - wolf joke!) to become the lead man in the Twilight sequel New Moon. He is even doing most of his own stunts. Read this interview with Hit Fix.

Q: Were you doing any stunts today?

I’ve been doing a lot recently, yeah. The cool thing is, they’ve pretty much let me do most of my stunts. I got to do all the dirt bike riding, I got to do this really cool sequence that I’m actually not going to tell you about, because I want you to wait to see it. But yeah, the stunts have definitely been my favorite part so far.

Q: What physical preparation did you have to do to get ready for the stunt work?

Well, I had to put on some weight. (Laughs.) While filming 'Twilight,' I knew that Jacob’s character transforms, not only emotionally and mentally but also physically, so I immediately, the day after filming Twilight, hit the gym, started eating a lot – good food – trying to pack on pounds. And here I am, thirty pounds heavier!

Q: Was it harder or easier than you thought it would be?

The actual getting into the gym and working out process was easier, but the eating was harder. Because I had to eat, and everyone’s like 'Are you kidding me? I’d love to eat like that!' I had to eat every two hours. At one point, my trainer said, 'Put anything in your mouth. Go to McDonald’s, get the biggest shake possible, I just need to get calories in you.' Because my body fat at the time was only, like, seven and a half percent.

Q: So you were on the Michael Phelps diet?

Yeah! Seriously, I’d wake up and my trainer would say, 'You need to have six egg whites, and bacon and toast and...' It became a lot, so that was the hardest part. Especially putting something in my mouth every two hours.

Q: Are you still eating like that? You still have to maintain the regimen?

Yeah. I’ve gotten used to it, but I definitely didn’t want to show up on set – now is the most crucial time, when I’m filming – so no, I’m definitely keeping it up while I’m up here.

Q: Can you describe the new movements you had to learn for your Wolf Pack scenes?

Well, I didn’t have anything to do with the Wolf Pack, but I did go through some dirt bike training, because I really hadn’t ridden before. So I had a couple lessons, so when they threw me on the bike I didn’t die. The biggest thing with Jacob’s physicality is, pre-transformation he’s described as clumsy, he trips over his own feet, he’s a little kid. Then, as soon as he transforms, he all of a sudden becomes very agile. So, it wasn’t certain movements or specific things I had to do, it’s just all of my movements together, even as simple as walking, had to have more of a presence, definitely easier than before.

Q: Do we get to see you phase?

Um…yeah! You will. You’ve got to wait and see, but it’s definitely going to be cool.

Q: What percentage of time would you say you spend shirtless? ??I’d say the same as the books. I’m not going to give you a specific percent, but the great things about this series, and the movies , is we stay true to the books. So if you read the books, you know what the movie’s going to look like.

Q: Are you using your martial arts expertise a lot?

No – I mean, Jacob doesn’t do martial arts. It helps with the agility, yes; that’s what it does help with, but it’s not like Jacob comes out and [uses] kung fu on the vampires. (Laughs.)

Q: Have you seen any production art of what your character looks like after transformation?

Very sketchy ones. They’re literally, like, drawings, nothing in detail. So it’s really going to suck, waiting all this time – even though it’s such a quick turnaround. I mean, we’re finishing up here end of May, and it’s coming out at the end of November already. Those months in between are definitely going to be hard, because I’m really excited to see what everything’s going to look like.

Q: They said that for your Jacob the wolf scenes, they’re going to keep your eyes.

I believe so, because when Bella, all through the books, when she looks into the wolf’s face she sees Jacob’s eyes.

Q: Does that mean you’ll spend extra time in a CG studio to capture that?

I don’t know. I think it’s as simple as taking a picture of my eyes and just pasting that on the wolves. I did get body-scanned, is that what they’ll use? Gotcha. Oh yeah, my head body-scanned. Yes, yes, yes.

Q: And did you have any time to do anything between this and 'Eclipse' or are you just going to take a break?

I’m actually not sure yet. While I’m up here I want to focus as much as possible on 'New Moon.' I’m leaving everything to my team back home to work on. But yes, we’re definitely working on things. Nothing is solidified yet.

Q: Will you try to bulk up even more for 'Eclipse' and put on more weight?

Yeah, I am. Jacob continually grows throughout the series, so that means…no matter if I’m doing a film or not, I’m still going to have to put on a little bit more weight.

Q: Do you have a target weight right now?

I’m going to try and put on another…I’ll shoot for another ten. We’ll see what I can do, but I’ll be working hard.

Q: How often do you go to the gym? ?
About five days a week. At one point, I realized I put on a lot of weight, and then I started losing weight dramatically and I was like, what’s going on? Why am I losing all this weight that I put on? And what I realized is that I was actually over-working myself. I was going seven days a week, I wouldn’t take a day off, and I would be in the gym for two and a half hours, and I was just burning more calories than I was putting on. That was my biggest problem. So then, I had to cut back; four or five days a week, and not be in the gym too long.

Q: That sounds like reportedly what Rob’s experience was like on the first film.

Oh, really? I’m not familiar. (Laughs.)

Q: That was your real hair, right?

No. This is! But no, the long hair is definitely a wig. I just wrapped the wig a couple of days ago; that was amazing. The whole crew gave an applause, I was so happy. They’re like, 'So, do you want to keep it?' I’m like, 'If you give it to me, I will probably burn it.' (Laughs.)

Q: What’s been the biggest difference between this shoot and the Twilight shoot?

We know what we’re making this time around. I mean, for the first film, we really had no idea we were making a big film, we just knew that we were all in love with the series and wanted to make a great movie. But we didn’t know that all the people were going to fall in love with the movie and it was going to be as big as it was. Now, we’re coming into 'New Moon,' you know, with a little bit more pressure, but we’re trying to push that behind us and not think about that, and stay focused on what we need to do.

Q: What’s the difference between working with Catherine Hardwicke and working with Chris Weitz?

They’re both so talented in different ways. What I love about Chris is the set is very calm and we’re just having a lot of fun making the movie. And then you sit back and you look at the results that are happening and it looks amazing so far. I’m so excited to see it. And you just sit back and see what’s going on, and you’re like, 'How are we having such an easygoing, relaxed time making this movie, and it’s turning out the way it is?' At the same time, the conversations with Catherine – she just related to us so well. So does Chris. They’re both talented directors, and I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to work with both of them.

Q: Have you had a chance to meet David Slade yet? Has he come to set or met anybody?

He came up here, briefly. I was in the middle of a stunt rehearsal, and he showed up with Wyck, one of our producers, and Wyck was like, 'Hey, this is David.' And at that point he wasn’t signed on to the film and I had no idea who he was. Then all of a sudden he started putting up these ‘camera hands’ in my face; 'Yeah, I think this would be a good angle right here.' And I’m just sitting there going, 'What is he doing?' Then finally, as he’s doing it, Wyck says, 'Oh, I probably should tell you who this is. This is David Slade. He’s probably going to be doing 'Eclipse.'' I was like, 'Oh, that makes sense now!'

Q: If you could give Jacob, as a werewolf, one more power, what would it be?

Oh boy, that’s a tough question. Um…I want to steal one of Edward’s powers, because I like them. But then I’d feel like I’m betraying Jacob if I said that. (Laughs.)

Q: Which one of Edward’s powers would you take?

Well, I don’t want to sparkle. Definitely, I don’t want to sparkle. We [wolves] can read minds, though, right? Each others’, but not anybody’s. Ok, well, I’d like to read Bella's.

Q: Are you liking having a Wolf Pack? You’re not the only one anymore.

Yeah, it’s fun! They’re a lot of fun, they’ve got a lot of energy, they’re fun to have around. I’m really glad that they were able to come up and have fun with us.

Q: There’s a lot of talk about the fight scene between Jacob and Paul…

The sad thing is, it’s not gonna be me. It’s gonna be a CGI wolf. But I’m sure it’s gonna look just great.

Q: How did you all develop the bonds that have to translate on screen?

We hung out, while they were up here. We went to dinner, we went to some movies. We all get along, so I definitely think you’re going to see that in the film. They’re fun guys, they’re easy to get along with.

Q: Are you all BFFs now?

I don’t know if we’re BFFs! But we’re friends.

Q: Have you wrapped, or how much more shooting do you have?

Let’s see. We’re almost done. I think we’ve got another two weeks left, and they’ve got a couple of scenes left. It’s sad, but it’s alright. We’ll be back soon.

Q: What’s been your favorite scene to film so far?

Um…I’d either say, some cool action scene I got to do, because I really do like the action, or I really like the break up scene. We call it 'the break up scene.' It’s the first time Bella sees Jacob after he’s transformed. When she comes to his house, and she sees for the first time that his hair’s cut, he’s different, what’s up…? And he tells her, 'We shouldn’t be friends.' It’s a really emotional scene.

Q: Considering how moody Jacob gets in 'New Moon' – toying with Bella’s emotions – do you feel bad at all?

I don’t feel bad one bit; I feel bad for myself! (Laughs.) No, when I was reading the books, I felt so bad for Jacob’s character. But now that I’m actually living him, I feel way worse. Bella’s toying with Jacob! I don’t care if she’s ripped between the two guys, I feel so bad for Jacob, because she confused him; one moment, she’ll want to kiss him, and the next moment, she’s ditching him for Edward. I mean, yeah, I understand where Bella’s coming from, and it’s a crappy situation for all of them. But I feel really bad for Jacob.

Q: A lot of fans are looking forward to the scene in 'Eclipse' where Jacob and Bella finally have the kiss.

I can't wait until November 20 to see Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black in New Moon.!

Kristen Stewart’s Pregnancy Rumor

Before you get all excited, I have to begin by telling you that this rumor originated in an Australian tabloid magazine on the same cover as the headline "Michael Jackson, Murder?". Along with the article, they even published a photo of Kristen Stewart with a baby bump that had obviously been photoshopped. The magazine claimed that Kristen Stewart responded to the pregnancy rumor on her Twitter, but representatives for Kristen Stewart have stated that she does not even have a Twitter account. If Kristen Stewart was to get pregnant (whether it be by boyfriend Michael Angarano or co-star Robert Pattinson), it would be just in time for the filming of Breaking Dawn, the fourth installment of the Twilight saga movies. But how could they hide her belly during the filming of Eclipse?

Vacation in La Push

Seven miles West of Forks, Washington, the rainy little town in the Northwest made famous by Twilight, is the La Push Quileute Reservation. La Push only covers one square mile of land on the Pacific Ocean and has about 350 residents. If you are a Twilight saga fan seeking a rustic vacation, then La Push is for you. The Quileute tribe owns a resort featuring rooms with no tv, no phones, and a very weak Internet connection. These rooms rent from $45- $300. You can sit on the beach and relax and imagine you are Bella mourning over Edward's absence.

Stephenie Meyer decided on Forks and La Push for the settings of the Twilight series by Googling "rainiest place in America." The search led her to Forks, Washington, and Stephenie was thrilled about the nearby reservation.

"There are mixed feelings," says tribal council member Anna Rose Counsell. Over the last three months, the tribe has struggled over what to do. "This is a phenomenon that is happening whether we like it or not."

Tribal leaders hired a p.r. pro, Jackie Jacobs, in February after being inundated with "Twilight" inquiries. The tribe opened its Wednesday night drum circle to all visitors, which recently included two families of "Twilight" fans.

At the tribe-owned Oceanside Resort, director Renee Rux says business is up 30 percent, thanks to "Twilight." "It's been huge for us," Rux says. The resort recently partnered with a charter boat company to offer "Twilight" tour packages for $250.

At the moment, the shop stocks few "Twilight" souvenirs, including hand-knit hats emblazoned with "Bella," "Jacob" and "Edward." Another holds $8 bottles of sand, labeled "Jacob's Treasure."

Rux, a non-native, retrained the staff to reach out to visitors. "That's the paradigm shift," she says. "People [now] want that experience of being with the Quileute."

A hospitality industry veteran, Rux promised to add $1 million to the resort's $2 million in revenue when she was hired last September. It's just not clear how much the Quileute people want to share their culture for profit.

Hospitality is an ingrained part of their culture, but elders are worried about building a tourist economy. They fret about how their creation story is portrayed in the book. The tribe says they were changed from wolves to humans by a traveler. Meyer took literary liberty, enabling them to change back at will in an eternal battle against vampires.

"This is our opportunity to educate people on Quileute history," Counsell says.

At the Wednesday drum circle, artist and grandmother Ann Penn-Charles works up a sweat in the kitchen while a group of men sing traditional songs. More than 75 people have come on this night for the tribe's free dinner and music.

Quileute artists take pride in harvesting their own materials, whether it's raw animal sinew for a drum or cedar bark for baskets. Penn-Charles says she's felt judged by some tribal members because she knits the names of "Twilight" characters into traditional cowichin hats. They sell for $50 at the resort store, or $25 directly from her.

"They're resentful. They think we're selling out," Penn-Charles says. "It's not. It makes your car payment, or those braces your kids need."

The tribe has hired a business developer, Justin Finkbonner, who also spearheads a crusade to market Quileute and other native artists.

"We have so many talented artists here, so many untapped," Counsell says. "They don't know how to market."

In Forks, Chinook Pharmacy owner Chuck Carlson, agrees. He's seen a 20 percent jump in business thanks to "Twilight" merchandise, but the store only carries one Quileute craft -- tiny hand-woven cedar baskets that sit behind a glass case and sell for $49.

"They need to take more advantage of what's going on," Carlson says. "I don't think they understand how to do that."

In particular, he feels the tribe should profit from the tour buses that rumble through the reservation. "I would be saying, 'Hey, you're coming down here, you're making a lot of money off us. You need to share some of that profit.' "

The tribe is now talking about working with tour operator Dazzled by Twilight. Its evolution as a business likely will only grow as the rest of the books are made into movies. In later books, the Quileutes' role becomes nearly as prominent as the Cullens'.

Fans of La Push hope visitors who come for "Twilight" will learn to appreciate the area's natural allure. That could help connect the Quileutes to more sustainable tourism, such as fishing trips with a Native American guide, kayak rentals and eateries focused on fresh seafood that will attract culinary tourists.

Tribal publicist Jacobs practically scoffs at questions about what the Quileutes will do once "Twilight" fades.

"The Quileute have traced their ancestry to the Ice Age," she says. "One day, 'Twilight' will go away and they will continue being the hospitable, welcoming people they've always been, practicing the culture they have been practicing for tens of thousands of years.

"Once 'Twilight' is gone, the Quileute will be fine."

The Quileute Nation in La Push, is ambivalent about embracing "Twilight" tourists.

Tribe members lead visitors in traditional dances at their community gathering.

The Forks, Wash., house that serves as Bella's home in "Twilight" is a regular stop for tours.

Mike Welch Discusses Edward’s Role in New Moon

For those of you you have read the novel New Moon, you might be worried that we won't see very much of the gorgeous Edward Cullen on screen due to the storyline. Have no fear -- Summit knows how much we need our Robert Pattinson fix! Mike Welch, who plays Bella's human friend Mike Newton, reassures MTV that Edward will receive plenty of onscreen time in New Moon.

"They figured out a very clever way to get Edward back in the film much more than he is in the book," revealed "Twilight" series star Michael Welch when he stopped by the MTV studios recently, acknowledging that Weitz and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg have devised a plan to work around the "New Moon" plot — which has Edward breaking up with Bella (Kristen Stewart) early in the story and fleeing to Italy. "It's more of, like, a hallucination kind of thing."

MTV goes on to say:

As any good Twilighter knows, Bella is heartbroken by their breakup but slowly begins dealing with her Edward-less existence through the realization that dangerous activities — motorcycle riding, cliff diving, etc. — cause her to hear the sexy vampire's voice in her head. Welch was fascinated by Stewart's pretend hallucinations on set and explained to us that Weitz intends to insert sequences of her seeing Edward as "New Moon" inches closer to its November 20 release date.

"It's tricky," he said of the filmmaker's dilemma. "I mean, [Edward] leaves for months."

"In the book, she just hears his voice," continued Welch, who plays rival Bella pursuer Mike Newton in the movies. "In the film, it's more of like a hallucination kind of thing. He will be [in the movie more than the book] for sure."

While the news of more RPattz is sure to excite some fans, others may be concerned about the tweak — and the manner in which Edward will be glimpsed in Bella's hallucinations. Will he be an Obi-Wan Kenobi-like figure, giving her advice from the great beyond? Will Edward come across more like a god, overseeing her safety from half a world away? Will the sequences play like a bad acid trip from a '60s movie, or more like Bella interacting with an imaginary friend?

"It's going to be interesting to see — I have no idea," Welch explained. "You can sort of picture it reading [the script], but I don't know how they actually went about filming that stuff."

Twilight ‘Volturi’ Spinoff

At the recent Vision Awards it was revealed that Twilight Saga fans may see a Twilight Volturi spin-off. Saturday night in Beverly Hills during the 2009 Vision Awards the cast of Twilight and New Moon cast, which included Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke and Christian Serratos, were in full red carpet Twilight Saga effect where RadarOnline was able to snag a quick chat Twilight related. More New Moon and Twilight news surfaced this week, as Radar reported on their Twilight chat with producers, Wyck Godfrey, Greg Mooradian and Guy Oseary who admitted a Twilight Volturi spin-off is possible.

As reported by RadarOnline, New Moon producers, Wyck Godfrey, Greg Mooradian were first in line as Godfrey mentioned the challenge of filming in Italy and trying to keep Robert Pattinson from being swallowed by the rabid Twilight and New Moon fans.

Twilight Saga fans take notice, as New Moon producer, Greg Mooradian, dished about a possible Twilight Volturi spin off to which Mooradian responded, “Stay tuned. I think if our movies do as well as the first did all possibilities are out there. But right now we need to finish what we have and finish Stephenie’s vision as best we can and then let’s see where the audience demands us to go from there.”

Christian Serratos Vision Awards Interview

Christian Serratos, who plays Bella's human friend Angela Weber in the Twilight movies, was interviewed by OMGCelebrityNews after the 2009 Vision Awards at the Beverly Hills Wilshire Hotel on June 27. In her interview she discussed filming New Moon and compared the director Chris Weitz to Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke. Here is an excerpt from the interview:

OMGCelebrityNews.com: How was it different filming with Catherine, different than filming with Chris?

Christian Serratos: Um.. There’s a huge difference, um, Catherine was awesome she gave me the opportunity, she allowed me to work on this project so I owe her everything. She was… No one knew what she was doing but she had such a specific vision I don’t think you could understand if you wanted to. She, she was so eccentric and so cool and just so fun to be around and you felt so at ease hanging out with her.

And then, Chris Weitz he made sure we all were on what we were supposed to be doing. And then when we got there we all got like 20 pages, um just this little pamphlet that was like, and you think with him being in so in order would be kind of up-tight, but he’s so chill and so relaxed and he’s funny on top of it. Robert Pattinson’s Fake Abs

Say it isn't so! Did Robert Pattinson fake his abs for the Volterra scene in New Moon? MTV in the UK reported the following info:

“Rob had a team of makeup artists working on his stomach to make it appear as if he had a six pack” one claimed. Rob is definitely not that in shape,’ says the source. ‘He hates the gym and will never really be a muscle man! They used all the tricks - including liquid body paint, shading, and airbrushing to make his torso look toned and whenever they stopped filming, Rob would duck back insider to get touched up by the makeup team.”

I just hope all of those "moles" or whatever that is covering his body is fake also!

Robert Pattinson Hit By a Cab

Robert Pattinson apparantly was hit by a cab last week! Don't worry though, the sexy star of Twilight and New Moon is reportedly ok according to a spokesperson for Summit Entertainment. Read his comment and the article from E! Online here:

A spokesperson for the studio states:

"Robert Pattinson is fine. The reports are exaggerated, and the accident was not caused by fans. Production continues."

The Summit rep refused to say what did cause the cabbie accident, or whether or not additional precautions were being taken for Pattinson. Jeez, why the hell not? But first, a disclaimer: Sources where Rob was filming, as well as bystanders, tell us they did not see the accident. Remember, Radar also "broke" that Kristen Stewart's boyfriend was chasing her around Italy (uh, didn't happen).

Now, back to R.Pattz's safety. What say you Summit insiders?

"We're taking it as it unfolds," says a source deep within Summit, who, for the moment, declined to release any official statement on Pattinson's personal safety during filming. "Security has been increased," adds our in-the-know insider. "But there's no grand plan."
